NOTES [58 words]: This sounds like a story of Australian bachelors visiting the "Female Factory" (for which see "Botany Bay Courtship (The Currency Lasses)"), but apparently it's about a real twentieth century Irishman. I can understand why the real Bill Beattie wasn't too happy about the song, though apparently Bill had been looking for a servant, not a wife. - RBW
