NOTES [88 words]: Steve Roud lumps this with "Robin Hood Was a Forrester Bold," which is a traditional song often known as "Bold Robin Hood." But this shares almost nothing with that song except the words "Robin Hood" and "Foresters." This song may have been inspired by that one, with a large admixture of late Robin Hood legends, but I don't think it's the same. And it shows no connection at all with the earlier Robin Hood legends. Frankly, it looks like it is based on one of the bad recent rewrites. It certainly didn't become widespread. - RBW
