NOTES [49 words]: I found this in several nineteenth century school readers and songbooks, which perhaps explains why it ended up in tradition a few times, but none of the sources I checked listed an author. Perhaps the author re-read it, realized how awful it was, and refused to admit to producing the thing. - RBW
