NOTES [58 words]: This song had a very great fling of popularity a few years ago in pop folk circles. It is not, however, a folk song; it has never been found in tradition. I include it partly because it was so widely heard and partly because the poet, Harold Boullten, produced several other almost-folk songs, notable the Skye Boat Song (Over the Sea to Skye). RBW
