Rest, Sweet Nymphs

DESCRIPTION: "Rest, sweet nymphs, let golden sleep Charm your star-brighter eyes, While my lute the watch doth keep With pleasing sympathies. Lulla, lullaby. Lulla, lullaby. Sleep sweetly, sleep sweetly...." The singer wishes the "dear damsels" rest as he departs

Erica Warnock, "Rest, Sweet Nymphs" (Fragment: Piotr-Archive #450, recorded 01/26/2023)
NOTES [59 words]: This is a beautiful piece if done right -- it seems to be considered Francis Pilkington's best work, based on Internet searches -- but traditional? It seems effectively certain that the Erica Warnock version derives from a recent recording. Note that Warnock gave Derek Piotr another early "classical" piece, "Come Again, Sweet Love Doth Now Invite." - RBW
