NOTES [97 words]: Donald R. Hill and Lise Winer, liner notes for WITrinidadVillage02: "There are many versions of this song, which apparently originated as a Spiritual Baptist song but is also found as a Big Drum and pass play song in nearby Carriacou." The Alan Lomax sound recordings item, "Mary and Martha," by Ferguson Adams et al. is apparently the Carriacou version Hill and Winer have in mind. So, while the hymn has a verse "Zion rider coming down" and refers to Biblical Mary and Martha of Luke 10:38-42 and John 11, the Carriacou play party says, "If you want to see them Go to Anguilla." - BS
