NOTES [135 words]: Liner notes for MoloneyCrownFarFromShamrockShore, p. 31, has the Steve Porter recording at 1906. The Steve Porter Discography at UCSB Discography of American Historical Recordings @ https://adp.library.ucsb.edu/index.php/mastertalent/detail/106553/PorterSteve accessed 6/3/2025, has three recordings by Steve Porter of "Clancey's Wooden Wedding": Victor B-10007, 2/28/1911, and VictorBVE-10007, 10/23/1926, and Zonophone 5723-B, before May 1911. The Vintage Recordings LP is apparently the 1926 reissue. On this basis, the EARLIESTDATE uses the 1911 Steve Porter recording. The Edward Meeker 1921 recording cites Teddy Simons as author, but I have no other information about Teddy Simons; I can't judge the likelihood that he was author of Edward Meeker's text. The words are the same for both recordibgs. - BS
