NOTES [72 words]: Although this is distinct from "While Shepherds Watched Their Flocks," the thematic elements are close enough that you can look up the notes to that to learn about this. The whole story is from chapter 2 of Luke; the only thing that derives from Matthew's account of the nativity is the reference to Mary as a virgin (in Luke, she is a virgin at the time of the annunciation, but the text does not say that she remained a virgin). - RBW
