NOTES [69 words]: "General Le Jeune" is presumably U.S. Marine Major General John A. Lejeune, who commanded the second U. S. Division in the final offensives of the First World War. He wasn't particularly important historically; five of the six histories of World War I I consulted did not even mention him; neither did my largest encyclopedia of the war. I presume Camp Lejeune in North Carolina, a Marine base, is named for him. - RBW
