There was a famous accident in 1907 known as "The Grand Falls Tragedy" which took place as a dam was being built. Despite the name, this song clearly refers to a separate incident (both the number and the names of the dead are different). Note that the song has no date and does not in fact mention Grand Falls. So all we have to go on is the name of the dead, and one of those is thought to be wrong! So far, I have not been able to identify the date and situation. - RBW
