'Tis But a Little Faded Flower
DESCRIPTION: "'Tis but a little faded flower, But, oh! how fondly dear. 'Twill bring me back one golden hour Through many a weary year." The singer keeps it to remember that lost time. Other hearts also keep remembrances "of days that are no more"

NOTES [75 words]: Bartleby.com, which is generally fairly reliable, credits the words of this to Ellen Clementine Howarth (1827-1899). However, the 1860 sheet music published by William A. Pond & Co. says the words are by Frederick Enoch and the music by J. R. Thomas. Interestingly, the interior lists only Thomas's name, not Enoch's. A recording at the Library of Congress credits the words to Howarth, the music to Thomas, which seems the most likely combination. - RBW
