NOTES [62 words]: Laws quotes Beck to the effect that the song was by "John Morrison," but Paul Stamler observes that Beck spells the name "Morison." Beck-LoreOfTheLumberCamps, however, spells it "Morrison." Chances are that Dave D. Smith, who made the attribution, did not spell out the name, and Back and Laws used different spellings. Either that, or it's a typo in Beck's 1941 book. - RBW
