NOTES [78 words]: Fowke credits this to T. Richardson. The New York sheet music by Hewitt & Jacques, however, credits it to Gabriel H. Barbour (words) and W.C. Peters (music); it was sung by "Mr. Dempster" and dedicated to "Miss Mary Wood." Every sheet music copy I saw was of the Barbour/Peters version; I do not know where Fowke found her information. And since the sheet music is undated (perhaps to pretend to be older than the Richardson version?), I can't really give it a date. - RBW
