NOTES [62 words]: Probably not traditional in origin, and there are no field collections, but it has been recorded by several "folk" groups, and also quoted in at least two sociological studies of mining culture. There seems to be confusion about the source of the tune; Harding-FolkSongsOfLancashire says Harding wrote it, but a Mudcat thread credited it to Harding's bandmate Pete Smith. - RBW
