NOTES [47 words]: Roud lumps this with the May Day Carol. The only thing they have in common is being sung on the first of May. Not enough reason for me. Nonetheless the various May Garlands are very diverse; they may well represent different songs, but it's hard to tell with such short texts! - RBW
