NOTES [98 words]: ColemanAndMcCarthyChampionSongBook, p. 45, has a clearly related song, "written and sung with great success by Miss Flora Moore," which begins
I came from Tiperary
A few short months ago
With spirits light and airy,
I'm an emigrant you know.
Pray let me ask yer pardon,
Smile on me if yer please,
For I came from Tiperary,
So far beyond the seas.
The singer is "just over from the old country," and intends to return to Ireland. But it never mentions any O'Donahues, singular or plural. While the two songs must be related, I have no clue which is the original and which the derivative. - RBW
