NOTES [54 words]: A number of people on mudcat recall hearing this at some time in their youth. Not everyone recalls it from Tom Glazer's 1973 recording, but none could state an alternate source, so I incline to think it is the ancestor of most of their versions. Glazer does not list an author, but I have to suspect the song is modern. - RBW
