NOTES [56 words]: This turns up all over the internet, with only small variations in the lyrics; I suspect it is very close to the original. But no one seems to know who wrote it.
It sounds like it ought to be a camp song, but it isn't mentioned in Averill's collection of camp songs, probably because there aren't summer camps at Thanksgiving time. - RBW
