NOTES [70 words]: Based on the description in Colquhoun-NZ-Folksongs-SongOfAYoungCountry, it would appear that Francicso Rodriques FIguero, known as "Don Buk" (sic.), ran a gumdigging camp near Swanson, New Zealand, that in effect served as a halfway house for those released from Mt Eden prison. He was successful enough at rehabilitating the felons that he became a minor New Zealand legend, with various landmarks named after him. - RBW
