NOTES [52 words]: For background on the Mormon Battalion, see "Mormon Battalion Song." This is listed as being sung to "How Firm a Foundation," and I'm fairly sure that is correct, but very many of the lines seem to have an extra syllable in them; I wonder if perhaps Thomas Morris knew a slightly different version of the tune.- RBW
