NOTES [78 words]: Evidently written in the 1920s to heap scorn on young flappers and other too-modern young women. Yet it appears that it was performed more for its humor value; it's less a complaint than an observation that what works for the young simply may not be possible or enjoyable for the old. Browne-AlabamaFolkLyric comments that there are many songs that criticize the changes adopted by young people, but "this one is perhaps the best. It is surely the funniest." I agree. - RBW
