NOTES [71 words]: According to Edwin Wolf 2nd, American Song Sheets, Slip Ballads, and Political Broadsides 1850-1870, Library Company of Philadelphia, 1963, p. 39, there are at least two Civil War era broadsides with this title, with first line "The flowers I saw in the wild wood"; they do not list an author or date. This is also found on Dime-Song-Book #1/72, p. 23. It may be related to this song, but it doesn't look quite the same. - RBW
