NOTES [64 words]: Arthur Desmond was a radical poet, many of whose works were printed by Bailey/Roth-ShantiesByTheWay-NZ. He was a radical unionist who twice failed of election to Parliament, took part in the Maritime Strike of 1890, then moved to Australia where he became even more extreme (denouncing women and promoting paganism and apparently violent revolution). He frankly sounds unbalanced. - RBW
