NOTES [61 words]: It isn't clear whether this derives from Marco Polo's book, or from Samuel Taylor Coleridge's "Kubla Khan." Coleridge's poem does not mention "Cathay," but it does use the spelling "Kubla Khan" rather than the preferred "Kublai Khan" for the grandson of Genghis Kahn (1214-1294; he was Great Khan of the Mongols from 1260 and considered ruler of China from 1271). - RBW
